Detailed description of Via Verde Country Club

Via Verde Country Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in San Dimas, California.

Via Verde Country Club was the concept of Vinell Pauley who first developed the club in conjunction with the Via Verde housing development in the city of San Dimas. The course was opened for play in 1969 and the additional nine holes were completed in 1970. The course was designed by Lawrence M. Hughes.

Unlike the uniformity of many courses, each of Via Verde's holes are unique in design and character. The variety of unique characteristics of the course include: water hazards, dog leg lefts and rights, up and down hill views and broad or narrow fairway configurations.

Blue tees: par-72, 6,433 yards, course rating 70.9, slope rating 124.

White tees: par-72, 6,215 yards, course rating 69.3, slope rating 120.

Red tees: par-72, 5,702 yards, course rating 73.7, slope rating 126.

The course plays narrow and a heavy penalty is often awarded for going astray because it is difficult to find the ball even if you had a good idea of where it went off the fairway, hence a lost ball that you were confident of finding. That said, I really like this course and would play again along with recommending it. The only real downside for me is I hate CART PATH ONLY courses. It wastes a lot of time when you can't really see the ball on the opposite side of the path, then must take (3) or (4) clubs to go find it and a yardage marker.

Would travel: 20-30 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again

Nice layout in great condition. Fairly narrow fairways and fast smooth greens. The pace of play is great and the value is very good.

Would travel: 30-60 Miles, Not Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Better than average course for the area, Ranks with the best in this price level, Bargain priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

Overseeded, so no carts on rough or fairway. It wouldn't have made any difference. Great greens
